MOLLIE CARTER

REVIT MASTER

ABOUT ME

Currently in my professional life, I am the BIM Coordinator for Rand Construction. While I identify as a Revit Master and some of my daily work entails Revit use - I also am hoping to transform this position to one that focuses on ALL construction technology, not just BIM. It is my hope that I can facilitate improvements to our construction process when new technology becomes available - whether that is with a new BIM workflow or another construction technology.

I began my career as an intern architect after graduating Virginia Tech's School of Architecture in 2004. After working several years with 2D CAD and hand-drawings, I was introduced to BIM. It quickly became my passion and I am always excited to talk about it and show others what it can do! I am very lucky that I've found a niche where I can model, create and teach others how awesome BIM can be!

Prior to my position at Rand, my experience has been wide ranging. I've graduated architecture school. I've worked as an intern architect and a staff architect. I've taught all versions of Revit since 2008, in some capacity or another. I've consulted architects on BIM processes while working for an Autodesk reseller. I've worked as a Virtual Design and Construction Coordinator at several architecture firms and general contracting firms. I was lead design collaborator on a large airline hangar project in Anchorage. Additionally, I was an assistant professor of construction management, where I taught students about codes and standards, construction scheduling unique to Alaska and the basics of construction project management.

I would like to use my experience to break down the information silos that exist between construction industry partners with a full collaborative process as overarching goal.
